So we got line slammed by a wind storm today. The electric was off for almost 12 hours, and flickered really bad the hour before that.
The streets are lined with fallen trees and fences. Everywhere you look buildings are damaged, cars are crushed under the avoirdupois of fallen trees, and traffic lights are not just off, but missing from their posts entirely. In one section we drove before a hunk of knotted power lines.
I had my portable DvD player running until the battery died, so I took to playing some Pokemon rip off on the Gameboy until John got residence. I had tried to read, but the light wasnapos;t quite good enough for that and I didnapos;t want to turn the latern on until it in actuality got dark, as I didnapos;t know how long weapos;d be without electric.
When John got home from work (they have generators, hah) we unwavering to go out exploring since the wind had been stopped for some time. We discovered a chuck of buildings on one end of the city open, so we stopped for lunch, which I was extremely disappointed in. I figured with the storm itapos;d be slow, but I was wrong on that account. Instead my order was wrong on several levels. I didnapos;t get the soup that came with my supper until John asked about it after the rest of my meal had arrived, I had onions even though I had asked they not be included, and my steak tips were mid-point instead of well which bothers me because I have a massive mental block where the thought of eating meat with any pink in it kind of makes me masochistic.
Anyway, afterwards we decided to wander around Target, since they had electricity. We got bored and came home. I called mom to see what it was like over there - they didnapos;t lose out electric at all the lucky bums. Talked to her for a while before John and I got tired of sitting around in
