KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer

The KitchenAid Mixer has been making appearances in people’s kitchens across the Communal States since it was first introduced to home bakers in the 1920s. This mixer is any baker’s dream; well at least it is mine. Since moving off campus over a year ago I have from A to Z taken advantage of my kitchen, whether it is for cooking or my favorite, baking. This past Christmas I was given everything I need to bake pies, cakes, pastries and cookies. However, the only contribution that I did not receive was the KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer.

The KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer has actually been gracing my families’ kitchens for over the sometime thirty years, the mixer has been handed down from my grandmother to my mother and hopefully skip my older sister to me. I say hopefully because this mixer does not go cheap. It can be found at any Williams-Sonoma and Target for $299.95. Over thirty years ago the mixer came in a very limited amounts of color, however, today there are over a dozen colors to chose from and other unique colors made for Williams-Sonoma stores.

You can select from ten speeds, from very slow stirring to very high beating. The Mixer’s stainless-protect 5qt bowl locks to the base, and the head tilts back for easy removal of the bowl and beater. You can also choose from three distinguishable attachments for your mixing needs, flat beat for cookie dough, a dough hook for breads and a wire race for meringue and a pouring shield to help keep everything in the bowl.

First Cupcakes Made With The Kitchenaid

Today I made my first cupcakes with the Kitchenaid mixer that I got earlier this week.  I made a clanger with the first batch, the chocolate ones, by not mixing it enough.  I realized this after they were done baking.  I did better with the vanilla ones.  I have to say that the Kitchenaid does a tremendous job with whipping cream and buttercream.
These are the chocolate ones.  They're not as pretty as I wanted them to be, but they are definitely tasty.  They're chocolate cupcakes, filled with whipped cream and frosted with a Lindt chocolate ganache.

I really like how the vanilla cherry ones look.  They're vanilla cupcakes, filled with whipped cream, frosted with vanilla buttercream and topped with a maraschino cherry.

This is the first hour I've ever baked with nut & party cups and I have to say that I liked it!  I think that the cupcakes are generally bigger with the nut & party cups.  I also cut a humble slit at the top of the cup before I filled them up so that it could be easily unwrapped.  See the inside of this cupcake here.
I used Wilton's bismark tip for stuffing the cupcakes (which is a brand new toy), and found that this made it incredibly easy to fill them.
Now I know what you're saying, I should be putting my efforts into this month's Iron Cupcake Mother earth challenge, but I'm finding the challenge ingredient to be pretty difficult!  I don't have many days left now, so I've really got to get to trade if I want to be a part of the competition this month.
