Ike survivors wanted

This is a photo of Blow Dean just passing 100 miles south of St. Croix last year!  Our surf was about 6-10 feet and on the day I took this photo I was walking my dog on the bank to watch the waves.  I wore my sunglasses to keep the salt spray out of my eyes.  I couldn't keep my sunglasses undefiled of salt spray.  Once we got back to the car, the car was covered with salt spray from the high surf as well.

I live in the tropics and apprehend the uncertainty these storms can bring.  However, my native home is Texas and I understand many areas where I have relatives have been affected by the storms.  The Bolivar Peninsula took a direct hit from Ike and I would like to hear from my peer REALTORS there to see how you are doing. I spent many summers there in my family beach house and I've only heard through the gossip media about the devastation you suffered. Let us know if you evacuated and how the process went.  Where did you go.  What recommendations would you have for others in preparation for a furor. 

I have been watching the weather closely this time of year, as I do each year at this time.  It may be time for the leaves to start changing where you are, however, we are reasonable over the peak of hurricane season down here in the U.S. Virgin Islands.  I would like to share with you a true weather site:  www.wunderground.com.  This site shows the graphics of the weather from Africa through the South Pacific.  Click on this plat and view any disturbances that are in the waters at this time.   I watch this site daily and be aware how long I have to prepare for any disturbances I might be facing. 

I would like to hear from the survivors of Ike in Texas, Cuba, Dominican Republic and other areas non-natural by the storm/hurricane. Share with us how you are doing and if you are in need of anything that we can assist you with.

Take Me Out To the Ball Game

I got a occur to watch the Nationals beat the Meets last night at the new and amazingly clean Nationals stadium in DC. I sat in the “J” detachment of 115 and it was so close to the field I thought I was going to get beaned by a ball on a couple of times when I was text messaged by my son. It was a exceptional date night with the Mrs.. I do have one caveat for you though. You should save some money for the event. It was as expensive an evening as going out to dinner at one of DC’s many upscale restaurants. And be attentive if you take the subway system we call the Metro. It’s a jungle down there.

Getting to the stadium via the metro was not as fun. I parked my car in the place where you need the “Smart Dance-card” to exonerate yourself from. I must have looked lost because a homeless guy jumped in behind me quick enough not having to pay and made onto the next train before the metro slave could get out of the booth. When I got onto the train that was full of trash it looked like an old bus station. I grabbed a seat to meet the Mrs. who was waiting for me downtown. The other riders were mostly minor women wearing less clothing than my wife does around the house, also unabashedly showing more fat than should be allowed. The prettiest rider among us was as a matter of fact a dude whose makeup was flawless. Yeah, he had that “Crying Game” thing going on. Lawd, balm me to hold out! It was a long ride from the suburbs. As I got closer to the transfer point of Metro, it became a madhouse. Nationals’ fans were leisurely to spot; they all had baseball regalia and had something red on. They added to the mayhem which is rush hour. Transit police did their best to keep the put out moving. I couldn’t wait to get above
